MIDI Proxy

MIDI is disabled, or not supported

You might need to enable Web MIDI, or use a browser with better Web MIDI support.

Google Chrome works well.

Recent Firefox supports Web MIDI, but is constantly changing configuration defaults.

Try:

clicking: Tools > Page Info > Permissions
find the Access MIDI devices (...) settings
disable Use Default,
and manually select Allow.

Description

This app will create a Virtual MIDI device with 8 sliders and 7 buttons.

Each virtual slider is controlled using a piano-key + pitch-bend gesture from your MIDI keyboard.

This can be useful in many cases:

you don't have a controller with sliders
you're short on desk space but want more tactile controls
you're travelling with a minimal setup
you have plenty of controls but just want more

How To

Use a browser with good Web-MIDI support .
Create 2 virtual MIDI ports, and name them "mpin" and "mpout".
Plug in a hardware MIDI keyboard.
Select your preferred hardware input/output if you have multiple controllers.
MIDI Proxy will discover the virtual ports if you named them correctly.
You might need to shutdown and restart your browser for it to rescan MIDI.
MIDI Proxy will only affect one channel, so choose the channel you prefer.
MIDI C4 and upwards are mapped to controls with CC numbers shown.
Black keys are buttons, and white key select sliders to adjust with the pitch bend.
You'll see live feedback in the UI.
In your DAW (or other MIDI software) you can add a controller with
```
input = mpin
output = mpout
                        
```
and with the channel you configured.
In your DAW, you can still use your hardware device on any other MIDI channel.
If you want to create an Ableton Control Surface, you can use this file to get started.
